Overview: After we have purchased a new SSD or removable hard disk, the hard disk is not recognized when expanding to the computer, you can follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem.
1. Hard Disk Installation
PS: When installing the hard disk, please unplug all I/O cables from the computer, especially the power adapter, you can't work with electricity, otherwise it will damage the computer or the hard disk.
1-1, 2.5-inch SATA hard disk: please make sure the SATA data cable and power cable are installed correctly, try to unplug the SATA data cable and power cable and re-plug them to test.
1-2, mSATA HDD: Please check whether the mSATA SSD is correctly inserted into the corresponding motherboard slot.
PS: The mSATA slot and MPCIE (full-height) slot have the same specifications and can be easily mistaken, so please check the motherboard slot markings carefully when inserting the hard disk.
1-3, M.2 hard disk: M.2 hard disk is divided into NVEM protocol and SATA protocol, some models of M.2 slot support NVEM protocol and SATA protocol, which can recognize two different protocols of SSD. Some M.2 slots support NVEM protocol SSDs, please check the product manual or consult your hardware supplier when installing the hard disk.
2. BIOS query whether to recognize the hard disk
SATA protocol hard disk query method (Note: different models of the BIOS menu may be different, the steps in this blog are for reference only)
2-1, press the on/off button and quickly hit the Del/F2 key on the keyboard to enter the BIOS setup, select Chipset>PCH-IO Configuration>SATA And RST Configuration>Check whether there is any hard disk recognized in Serial ATA Port0 to Serial ATA Port0 5, if the hard disk name and capacity are recognized, then you can check the hard disk in BIOS. name and capacity in Serial ATA Port0 to Serial ATA Port0 5. If the hard disk name and capacity are recognized, you can check whether the hard disk name and capacity are recognized in BIOS. If the hard disk name and capacity are recognized, it means the hard disk installation is successful.
NVME SSD query method:
2-2, press the computer switch button and then quickly hit the keyboard Del/F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup, in turn, select Advanced>NVME Configuration, in this option to see whether the SSD name is recognized
3, Initialize the disk and create a new partition under the operating system
