Overview:
By default, this model features 6 DB9pin RS232 ports. Additionally, the motherboard offers a 2*3pin JRS485_422 row pin for connecting RS422 or RS485 (pin pitch: 2.54mm). Switching to RS485 or RS422 mode will disable the RS232 port of COM2.
Step 1: BIOS Setting for COM Mode
1-1. Access BIOS Setup by pressing the switch button and promptly pressing the Del key on the keyboard. Navigate to Advanced > Hardware Monitor & WDT & Power on. Set the Com Mode to RS485 or RS422 (choose the appropriate serial port mode based on requirements). Upon completion, press F10 on the keyboard to save and exit.
Step 2: Changing the COM2_SET Row Pin Jump Cap
2-1. RS485 Mode:
Under power-off conditions, remove the 4 screws located at the bottom of the chassis to access the internal frame. Identify the jump cap on the Com2_SET pin on the motherboard and relocate the cap to pin3 and pin4. Refer to Figure 2-1 below for pin definitions.
2-2. RS422 Mode:
Identify the jumper cap on the Com2_SET pin on the motherboard and move the cap to pin5 and pin6. See Figure 2-1 below for pin definitions.
Step 3: Plugging the RS485 or RS422 Cable into the J485_422 Pin
Locate the J485_422 pin on the motherboard to connect the RS422 or RS485 cable. (Pin spacing: 2.0mm)
3-1. RS485 Mode:
For RS485 mode, prepare a group of data lines (2 lines) with a pin spacing of 2.0mm from outside the chassis into the chassis. Insert these lines into pin3 and pin4 of the JRS485_422 pin. Connect the external end of the data line outside the chassis to the RS485 peripheral products for communication. Refer to Figure 3-1 below for J485_422 pin definition.
3-2. RS422 Mode:
For RS422 mode, prepare 2 sets of data lines (4 lines total) with a pin spacing of 2.0mm. Introduce these lines into the chassis from outside and insert them into pin1, pin2, pin3, and pin4 of the JRS485_422 pins. Connect the external end of these data lines to RS422 peripheral products for communication. Refer to the following figure for J485_422 pin definition.
3-3. Figure 3-2 below shows the schematic of RS485 connection, RS485 is a 2-wire system, so you need to connect 2. 3-3 shows the schematic of RS422 connection, RS422 is a 4-wire system, so you need to connect 4.
