Overview:
Designed for H4-i5-8250U and i7-8550U models, this system comes with a factory default setting of 6 DB 9-pin RS232 mode. The motherboard offers 2 sets of RS485 row pins, enabling RS485 mode when needed. Please follow the steps below to switch to RS485 mode. Note: After switching to RS485 mode, the RS232 ports of COM4 and COM6 will become inactive.
1. BIOS Configuration:
1-1. Start the computer by pressing the power button, then quickly press the Del key on the keyboard to access BIOS Setup. Navigate to Advanced > ITE Super IO Configuration. Enable "RS-485 Auto Flow" under both Serial Port4 Configuration and Serial Port6 Configuration options.
1-2. Press the F4 key to save and exit after completing the settings.
2. Motherboard Jumper Setting + RS485 Data Cable Connection:
2-1. With the system powered off, remove the bottom shell screws to access the motherboard. Locate the JC1 and JC2 row pins on the motherboard. Move the jump cap from its current position to pins 2 and 3 to activate RS485 mode for the J485 row pins.
2-2. RS485 operates in 2-wire half-duplex mode. Prepare two sets of 2.54mm spacing DuPont wires as RS485 data lines, extending them outside the chassis to communicate with RS485 devices. One set of RS485 data cables should be connected to the D0+ and D0- pins of the J485 pin on the motherboard, corresponding to COM4 in the OS. The other set should be connected to the D1+ and D1- pins of the J485 pin, corresponding to COM6 in the OS.
If you find the RS485 operation switching process complex, please contact our customer service. We can assist you in switching before delivery and weld the RS485 data lines to pins 8 and 9 of COM4 and COM6. This enables direct communication with RS485 devices via COM4 (pins 8 and 9) and COM6 (pins 8 and 9).
