Preparation：
▶ USB flash drive larger than 8G
▶ Download the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS ISO file from: https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop/thank-you?version=22.04.2&architecture=amd64
▶ Download the Rufus image writer tool at : http://rufus.ie/en/#
Step 1: Make a bootable USB disk
1-1, go to the official Ubuntu website to download the image file, and remember the directory where you saved the image file.
1-2, Visit the official website of Rufus to download the Rufus.exe software.
1-3, after successful download, insert the USB flash drive and run Rufus.exe, "Drive Properties", select the USB flash drive (Note: This operation will format all the information in the USB flash drive, if there is any important information, please backup in advance!) If you have important information, please backup it in advance! If there is important information, please backup in advance. Then select the Ubuntu image file in "SELECT", select "GPT" in "Partition scheme", confirm there is no error and click "START".
1-4. The default mode is usually selected when choosing the production mode, confirm the start of writing, and wait for the production to complete.
1-5, as shown below (prompting us to succeed), click Close.
Step 2: Installing Ubuntu 22.04
2-1. Insert the USB flash drive that has been successfully written into the USB port of the computer where you need to install the system, press the On/Off button, and then quickly hit the F7 or F11 key on the keyboard (it may be different for different models, you can refer to the shortcut keys corresponding to the models in the following figure) to enter the boot settings, and then enter the installation wizard. Select the USB flash disk with UEFI: prefix Enter to enter the installation wizard. If the USB flash drive is not recognized in Boot setup, please enter BIOS Setup by Del or F2, and select Save & Exit>Boot override to select the USB flash drive with UEFI: prefix Enter to enter the installation wizard.
2-2, select the installation mode, usually choose to "Try or install Ubuntu".
2-3, Select the system language and click "lnstall Ubuntu".
2-4, select the keyboard layout and click "Continue" to enter the next step.
2-5, Select "Normalinstallation" and cancel "Download updates while installing Ubuntu" to save installation time. Click "Continue" to go to the next step.
2-6, select "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" and click "Install Now", select "Continue" partition, enter one step.
2-7, select the region and click "Continue".
2-8, Enter your user name in "Your name: (Your name)" and your password in "Choose a password: (Choose a password)". (Please keep in mind the password entered here.) After confirming that there is no error, click "Continue" to start installing the system. This step usually takes about 10 minutes, so please wait until the installation is complete.
2-9, remove the USB flash disk after the installation is complete, select "Restart Now", and click the "Enter" button to enter the system desktop after restarting.
Step 3: Ubuntu systems often require root privileges to function properly, so here are the steps to enable the root user and set the root password.
3-1, press Ctrl+Alt+T to open Terminal (Terminal), user@user-virtual-nachine:~s: enter sudo passwd root and enter, in turn, enter the current login user password, the root password to be set, confirm the root password.
(Note: It is recommended that you use a combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers for the root password, not less than 8 digits, such as Abc123456). When "passwd: password updated successfully" appears, it means that the password is set successfully.
3-2. When you need to use root privileges, enter su root in Terminal, and enter the root password in Password to switch to the root user. When "root@user-virtual-machine: / home/user#" appears, it means the switch to root is successful!
