Why does the graphics card core display Intel on the 12th generation core graphics card model ® UHD?

Overview:

The Intel 12th generation CPU, including models like M1-i5-1240P, i7-1280P, and i7-1265U, are listed by Intel as eligible for "Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics." However, some customers have reported that upon receiving their computers, the operating system displays the graphics card model as "Intel(R) UHD Graphics."

Phenomenon Analysis:

When a computer lacks dual-channel memory configuration, the graphics card model typically shows as "Intel(R) UHD Graphics." This is a normal occurrence and does not impact functionality. To utilize "Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics," the following steps can be taken.

Solution:

(Prepare 1 memory stick of the same brand and capacity)

  1. Power off the computer and disassemble it.
  2. Install the additional memory stick into the SODIMM slot on the motherboard.
  3. Upon booting into the operating system under normal conditions, navigate to "Device Manager" and expand "Display adapters." The graphics card model should now appear as "Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics," as illustrated below:
